I followed the instructions to install this driver. Now I can't get the PC to recognize when USB devices, of any type (including the Droid Eris) is plugged in.

I think it might be my fault. The PC I did this on is an AMD64, but I think installed the i386 version (out of habit).

Anyone know how to back that out so I can install the right version or if this is the problem?

I am also thinking maybe it is just a coincidence and the USB ports on the motherboard when out. It happens.

Thanks for any and all help.

First, uninstall the HTC Sync and HTC Drivers in the "Uninstall Programs".

Reboot your computer in SafeMode and install the HTC Sync in there.

Restart normally. Connect your phone then.

For some reason, the ADB drivers don't like to install in regular Windows mode.

Worked for me; Using Windows 7 and Droid Eris on 2.1, not rooted. dancedroid
