Legality

yes the application is legal it is just a search engine like google but looks for specific things (Music).
what you download MIGHT be illegal, but that really depends on what you download.

On the serious side, basically anything without public use license, royalty free, etc.

There are actually allot of GOOD royalty free artists out there that would just be happy to spread their sound.

Before ThePirateBay went down they where well known for Independent artists Releasing directly through .Torrent (file share networks) as a fast free way to be well known throughout the world. But that's another rant all together.
