I can't get a custom boot animation to work on Gummy for the life of me

Just what the title says... any help would be greatly appreciated. I have tried the root explorer method to no avail.

1. Buy root explorer
2. Change system from mount r/w to mount r/o
3. Go to system/media and rename original to bootanimation.zip.bak
4. Move your new boot animation into system/media and make sure it is named bootanimation.zip
5. Change the new zip's permissions to rw-r-r
6. Change system back to mount r/w

Done, reboot and enjoy.

How about 7zip? That is a must have tool for any android owner. Get 7zip on your computer, right click on the rom, open archive, open system folder, open media folder, your boot animation is there. Then you just flash it as you normally would. You can change it that way, Not to mention all the other cool stuff you can do. Hope this helps :)

I've never had to change permissions on a boot animation, just apps/apk's.

I always found the permissions to already be set to where they need.

I just open Root Explorer.

Copy zip from SD card.

Navigate back one page and go to system/media.

Hit R/W to R/O and rename the existing to bootanimation.bak.

Paste new and name it to bootanimation.zip.

Hit R/O to R/W, exit and reboot.

If the ROM changes your build.prop it will sometimes put it in data/local. If so

you can place it there and name it bootanimation.zip.bak.

Please let me add...I have never ran GJar. So I can't be positive they don't do

something different with the ROM that effects the boot animations.. But I know

the way I do it has worked for all others.

What's up

Where are u installing to?

If /system/media make sure there isn't
an animation in /data/local

*Shameless plug*

Check out my app Absolute System on
Market it has previews. For the animations before
U install plus u can change install locations
And it does alot more :p

I can email u a copy to try if u want
