In a video released on HTC's youtube page, the company has detailed the process used to make the ultra durable shell on their newly announced device, the One S. They start with a piece of aircraft grade aluminum and then shock it with 10,000 volts of energy. This creates a micro-chemical reaction that produces a "ceramic like" feel and makes the aluminum five times stronger. The process is called Micro Arc Oxidation and the technology was originally used for NASA satellites.

Currently the One S is the only model out of HTC's new lineup that will sport this finish and many are asking why HTC isn't using the process on the One X, their new flagship device. To watch this new process in action check out the video above and let us know what you think in the forums.

Now, add a decent radio for reception in fringe areas and I might consider one of your phone; HTC!
