HTC was caught sharing your personal information with an Amazon server a few weeks back, and they finally addressed the issue. They wrote a message to BGR saying they do not intend to collect information without the knowledge of the user. The only instance where they would collect data is on an opt-in basis. If your phone experiences an error and you choose to send a report off to HTC, the information that is sent off to HTC, is encrypted and all identifying factors are taken out beforehand.
You can finally resume taking your phone with you to the little gentleman's room. HTC is not watching, well maybe they are, but they do not know it is you.
