so you dont want JIT, or the v8 java script to make web browsing faster, as well as Flash and apps2sd and more other improvements?

For reasons listed here (http://www.droidforums.net/forum/te...70898-wifi-issues-rooted-froyo-droid-1-a.html) I want to stay on 2.1. There isn't much on 2.2 I liked anyway when I had it. But now my phone seems intent on trying to get me to download froyo. I want to block it from trying or at least stop it from notifying me.

Can this be done?

i dont really think its possible froyo will be pushed to your phone even if you delete the update off your sd, they will keep sending it till you install it. and if you dont delete it it will install when you reboot your phone.

edit: just saw yo were rooted. you cant install it cause your recovery wont allow it to be installed.

Since you are already rooted and running an alternate recovery accept the update and it will fail on install.

Or you could, I don't know, install a new ROM with all the latest features and none of the issues currently being experienced by people with crappy update installs. There are at least a dozen excellent ROMs kicking around that probably would make you love your phone again and in new ways best not explored if you live in Texas or Arkansas. ;)

I've done that. But the update message keeps popping up. If I could block that message. I'll probably go to Froyo someday. But for what I use my phone for now. 2.1 is fine. Yes I'm rooted SPRecovery for the bootloader.

What did people do who had 2.0.1 when 2.1 came out? For those who wanted to stay on 2.0.1

Truthfully. Not at this time. The only thing I liked from Froyo was the voice command system.

Not a chance. Thanks though. None can fix the WiFi issue. I tried STOCK (NON ROOTED) 2.2.

Let me get this straight -- you tried one ROM and declared them all bad?

No. I don't have anything against roms. I even wanted to try Bugless Beast. But I didn't want to loose my app settings, home screen setup, etc. I have NOTHING against roms. But for now since 2.1 runs better on WiFI than 2.2 I want to stay there till I can get my Droid replaced. I might then go with BB. So if you or anyone knows how to "quiet" the CONSTANT onscreen notifications. I'll be happy. If you see my videos and posts at the top of the page. You will see that I've tried STOCK 2.2 and it gives me nothing but issues. 2.1 is ok for now.

I see your point, don't get me wrong, it's just a case of what you said was pretty sweeping. :)

There's no way to end the nag screens without installing the update or installing SPRecovery or ClockworkMOD Recovery and forcing the update to fail. Since you've already rooted...

Edit:
What you do is boot into recovery and tell it to install the update.zip but don't tell it to allow that install to work. It'll start to install, stop, and vanish. If it keeps popping up after that (and you said you tried it, so just saying) then something's not right because it's worked for everyone else I've seen try it.

That's what happens. SPRecovery takes over and blocks the update. Then it vanishes and then my phone (for a little while) says it's up to date. I really wish Google would not force the update on people.

For the majority of us we are not having any issues about wifi. I'm not seeing even that many post on it and trust me, I spend a lot of time around here.

Just a few people say so doesn't make it true. I have no problem with wifi and 2.2.

2.2 would be fine. It's the HW. The WiFi card is damaged. I'm going to get my Droid replaced.
