How to cook rom for a motorola phone? ???

I have installed ubuntu on my windows 7 whAt else do I need before I start cooking a rom where to begin do I need a system dump for the phone I want to cook a rom for? Was wondering is there something similar to the rom kitchen last time I checked it was just for htc phones thanks for all the help guys an yes I want to develope for my droid 2 global
