How to add themes and icons please

I am using Chevy ROM and Kernel on my phone. I want to jazz up my phone with a theme that has nice icons with it. I have tried everything to get a theme to work on my Droid, but to no avail. Is there a tutorial on how to master what I am seeking?

Are you sure the theme you are trying to use works with the ROM? How are you going about installing it?

Most themes are as an 'update.zip' method and therefore should be just as easy to install as the ROM itself. As warrior21 said, the theme MUST, and I said MUST be made for that ROM and ROM version in particular.
