How often does it check for mail?

Ok. On my Blackberry, I got almost instant email delivery. It appeared on my desktop computer, it appeared on the Blackberry.

With the DP, it seems a LOT slower. I found the settings for "push" and I turned it on even though I'm not sure it should be on.

The shortest fetch interval is 15 min.

Is this just how it's gonna be?

I have used my work email to send my personal email a test message. I was on gmail on my netbook with firefox. And my work computer with Chrome. I got the email about 10 seconds after I hit sent (on my netbook) about 2 mins later my phone vibrated and it was the email. I did it again with my screen on. I noticed the sync icon about 30 seconds after I hit send. I am on the droid 1 rooted with ultimate droid 1

I have noticed that sometimes there is a delay getting my gmails to the phone. My iPad and iPod touch always "ding" first every time. I've even had to "refresh" the Pro to get the email to show up. I'm going to monitor and see how it goes for a few more days.

I had to figure that out too. The shortest "Polling" setting on mine is 5 min, not 15 (But I use K9 mail app). I un-selected the "Polling" option (how many times the email checks for mail) and just left it set on "Push" and that way it comes through immediately as soon as mail is received. I tested it out several times and it is working correctly.

I am VERY frustrated because mine is not doing it. It is my Exchange server connection that is not working. If I reboot my phone, it will collect maybe the next 2 messages to arrive then after that... nothing.

I am thinking of returning to Blackberry this is so frustrating.

I checked with other people on the same server as me and their Droid's work fine.

ANY ideas???

Thanks!

P.S. What is K9??

i'm not sure if it's my server...other people at my company are having the same problem. as soon as the phone goes inactive "locked" i don't get emails until i make the phone active and then the messages come a few minutes later.
thoughts, help?

K9 is an app I use for my regular emails, but I don't think you can use it for corporate exchange emails, but it might have an update for that, I don't know. I love K9, but I set up my corp exchange email directly on the phone and it works fine. Maybe try calling VZW to see if they can help you? Or maybe your company's IT dept can help you? They helped to walk me through the set-up since my BBerry set itself up in the past.

Have you tried changing the polling time on K9?

I don't think you can use K9 for corp exchange email, however, if you DE-select the polling option in the K9 app, it will default to "push" the emails over immediately. I had to figure that out the hard way and now my emails come through immediately.

Droid will not POLL Windows Live Mail

I have the Samsung Fascinate using K-9 for my e-mail. No matter what I do, it will not POLL my windows live mail account. I tried setting the poll frequency - but no matter what I set - it reverts to "never". The PUSH option in the settings is 'grayed out'. With my previous Blackberry, e-mails were always nearly instantaneous. Is there any way to make this work? I do not want to forward all my mail to a Gmail account. Is this a problem with all Droids - or just the Samsung. The reason for that, I have a 30 day window I can switch to the Droid X if that would be a better phone all around. Greatly appreciate your input.

I'm currently testing K9 on my Droid Pro.

I set polling time to "every minute" and so far it is only 30 seconds behind...
