How come d1 also able to get cm7

I'm curious why are original droid users able to get cm on there phones and not droid x users I'm well aware of droid x having a locked bootloader ...but does the d1 not?

The droid one is totally unlocked. There is a developer that is working to get cm on the x but I haven't heard of much progress lately.

Ah that's bad news for droid x users
I'm thinking on getting thunderbolt since I've seen ppl getting cm on that or should I wait for bionic?
