horizontal screen issues

My Droid X screen won't switch to horizontal on the home page(s)
it does switch for email, text etc.
I've looked for a setting but so far haven't found anything that helps.

Isn't the home screen supposed to switch when turned on it's side?

The homescreen doesn't auto rotate Afaik. There was a big wgument about it a while back and I think that was the consensus.

The stock home screens don't. Launcher pro does though.

It does only during dock mode.
