SO i just rooted my Droid with no prior experience following guides online. Everything was working fine until I downloadrd a version of bugless beast I found on a thread and installed it. Now my droid is just looping the opening animation over and over again and will not start up. The backups i made will not restore either because it says their is an error (which is 28 i think) please help i just got the phone and cannot afford it to break

So what is my first step. I have an sat test tomorrow and need to sleep but this is worrying me and keeping me up haha

You basically want to start over from scratch. Follow his directions as if you were doing it all over again.

Your phone is not a brick. It's 100% recoverable (or, it would seem so anyway), it'll just take a bit.

Get some sleep and rest assured when you have time tomorrow, you'll be up and running again.

Everything you need is in the first post of that thread. And if it doesn't make sense (but it sounds like it will because you got rooted ok) there are tons of folks here who will lend a hand shortly after you post....just like you did here.

Welcome to the non-lurker side of the forums, where the real fun begins!

Good luck on the SATs

the truth is I am just completely lost right now. If what i first wrote is confusing, my phone is lieterally just looping the boot animation over and over so i am not sure what i could do about going back through the rooting guide. Is there anyway i can just unroot to the 2.1 software now and figure out about rerooting another time?

Unfortunately not. But, his steps also tell you how to get to a non-root state. If you connect to your computer and hold 'up' during the reboot process, do you still get the bootloader screen?

If yes, then you can use RSD to push 2.01 to your phone, then get the OTA upgrade to 2.1 and viola, phone is back.

Well, except for any customizations.

When rooting, things can go wrong. You can occasionally have this sort of thing happen. You caught some bad luck, but normally you'd have a good backup you could restore to using Nandroid and this would be a faster process.

Yep to getting the bootloader. So what i should do is go to christim's link, follow option box 5, and then manually upgrade to 2.1? sorry for all the questions but you guys are really helping

Yessir, that should work just fine for you.

Most important, relax. This seems stressful, but it's really quite a normal thing. You may not experience it enough to get used to it, but you will soon discover it's almost impossible to do anything irreparable to your Droid.

Also, Christim, your link is awesome. Wish I'd seen that when I was rooting.

one last thing i'll mention tonight before i try to sleep is that after 5 attempts, neither holding x on power up nor up on the d pad seem to be doing anything. hmm

i lied just wasnt happeneing because my droid was plugged into the computer. attempting to unroot i'll let you know the results

thanks and good advice. When you are staring at your phone thinking "damn...I knew I shouldn't have done this" it can be stressful. I have no idea how many people I've seen helped here at DF. I have yet to see someone's phone turn into a paperweight.

OK

So i got my phone back to stock and rooted again using the guide you have in your sig. Now i tried to get the newest smoked glass rom onto it and the same boot animation loop happened, but with the custom one in the rom. I got through the installation ok and everything just messed up when it rebooted. Luckily i had a responsive backup and i am back with my settings right before i tried to install it. Any suggestions?
