Handcent is just killing me.

I have this issue where the last time I went to update Hancent it started downloading and never stopped. Every time I cancel the download, Android Market instantly force closes.
When I reopen my downloads there is Handcent still downloading.
If left alone it will download 100%, but will not install.
I thought a work around would be to uninstall Handcent. I did.
Now I have no handcent and it continues to download but will not install from the Market.
Does anyone else have this problem?

I have the Moto Droid 1, with Froyo and not rooted.

Try going into menu > settings > applications > manage applications > filter ALL > select Market and 'clear data' and 'clear cache'

See if that helps.

Something that helps me is to kill the market process, it usually works after that.
