Gtalk doesnt refresh my friends online status

I have a problem with Gtalk where it will not automatically change the online status of my friends. I have to sign out of gtalk and then sign back in to see who is online and available to chat. I can't see any option in the settings to automatically refresh. Does anyone else have this issue?

Yes, I will see someone as online when they actually are not. I have to sign out/in to confirm whether they are really online or not. I have confirmed this at other times by seeing on my PC that the contact is not online even though my Droid says they are. Signing out and back in seems to be the only way to handle that right now. Fortunately that only takes about two seconds.

I have the same problem. In fact, I started a new thread on it because I couldn't find where anyone had already started one. I don't think this was a problem when I first got the phone; I think it's just started within the last 2-3 weeks... unless I'm just totally unobservant.
