I am having reception problems in certain areas and poor voice call quality. Will 2.2 fix any of these problems when it comes out or is this due to sub par hardware.

There is an update that should be coming ota to fix this.. If you are familiar with rooting then go to xda forums and its released on there already

Dont have plans to root. Way over my head and not interested. I have had the phone for 2 weeks now. Talked to vzw tech and they said to return for faulty device (bad mic) and replace it with another SF or swap to the X. Will the X get better reception over the SF? The tech wouldnt tell me. I need whatever I get to be a phone first. I can live without the great screen the SF has.

There have been previous posts about reception issues. Its actually the bars are not accurate and that the x had the same speedtest as the SF. switch for another one and see if that could be it.

Well, if you can hold out till the end of December problem solved with update DJ05.

I refused rooting my D1 for 9 months. By the time I did it, it became like a drug. I rooted my Samsung within the first 8 hours that I got.

Look this over and you will see it really is not over anyones head...

Talked to vz tech and it sounds like a bad device (mic). He said to return it or swap it for whatever I want. Reception is still up in the air. If the update will help with the repecption issue than I might aswell get a new SF and see how that one is. Still have some time left before my 30 days is up to decide if the SF is what I want.

Got another SF today. Hopefully this one will be better. Wife told me I sounded better so I just need to make sure the reception is better at the places that I was having problems.
