What happens when I turn off my Google plus? It asks to restore factory version. It's eating my battery since the update. Any idea how to manage it?

Do you use it? Nothing happens when you "turn it off" you just won't get G+ notifications your phone. I have been logged out of the app for about 2 months because the newest version was killing my battery. No negative side effects. If I need G+ I use my PC.
