Google Voice - Contact Specific?

Is there a way to specify Google Voice usage on a contact-by-contact basis? I know there's the "select cell or GV # by call" option, but I'd rather not have to do this for every call I make.

For the most part I'm still using my regular cell #, but I don't have a text plan so I'm telling everyone who regularly texts me that I have a new # (GV), and I handle all SMS through that. I don't want to confuse these people by accidentally calling them from my regular # but insisting that they text or call me on my GV #.

I think there needs to be a sticky thread just for google voice invites. Seems anytime someone posts a question about google voice, 10x replies occur for invite, and have nothing to do with the topic at hand.
