I'm running 2.0.1 on a Droid, I haven't rooted or anything. When I saw Google Earth was available, I searched for it in the market but couldn't find it.
So I went to m.google.com/earth
  1. clicked on send to phone
  2. Entered my phone number
  3. Got the link sent to my phone
  4. Clicked on the link

Got this message,
"Device not supported"

"Sorry Google Earth is not supported by your device"

What gives?

will not work on 2.0.1 UNLESS you have root access.

When we get 2.1 you will be good to go though.

2.1 will be released in March.

thats not really true, they're different, although very similar. Its a pretty fun app to mess with. 22m is a big footprint though

Here's a link to Google Earth and a few other 2.1 apps available to NON root users. If you are on stock 2.0.1 this will work for you. Thanks to RinTinTigger for the original link.

You can run Google Earth on a 2.0.1 I'm doing it now, you just need to go into settings , Applications, make sure that check mark is on and run this:
google earth for 2.0.1 and non-rooted users | droid life: a motorola droid blog

Click on google_earth.apk
