Google app crash

My phone has been horrible since the last update. Frequently locks up and this will randomly pop on the screen. The last update made my original GS 4 a brick, they sent me this one. Now this phone has issues. Not doing another FDR. Tired of getting my phone the way I like it then having to go thru it all over again. I do know these devices pretty well. I read way more than I post. Ready to trash this thing for a Motorola. Any ideas?

By any chance is your phone rooted or flashed with a custom rom?

Try this. I just found it in another post.

Go to settings - app manager - all. Find Google Play Store. Uninstall updates then restart and let it update again when it needs it. You may also want to clear the cache.

No rooting, phone is as it came from the factory. I did uninstall Google Play Store updates and after I updated it about 20 apps updated. Phone seems better since, keeping my fingers crossed. Thanks for the help!
