There we go. I just noticed that you can click the RSS link to see past status messages. Doesn't look like they're admitting to any outages in the past few days.
settings all look fine, haven't changed them since I got the phone. I'm using 8% of my storage space according to the bottom of the Gmail (PC) page. The think that really bugs me is this is starting to be intermittent.
No
If I do that I get a message that states I will permanently loose all data "including files, settings accounts, databases and so on."..................... would that wipe out my GMail off the phone?
Oh, wow, they need to change that dialog box. It DOES NOT delete accounts and settings. It will delete all gmail from your phone but it will sync up again with google's servers so you won't lose anything. One caveat: if you have anything stuck in your outbox that hasn't had a chance to sync with google's servers, those stuck messages will be deleted.
I have no idea why that dialog box is so scary, but you'll have to trust me and delete "Gmail storage" data. I just did it myself on my droid with no problem.
Some people also delete data/cache for "Gmail" in addition to "Gmail Storage" although when I had this problem Gmail Storage was the key. By the way, I haven't had this problem since I got 2.1
This type of thing might happen sometimes when sending attachments. Actually, there are a lot of potential causes that can be found by googling droid manual sync. Whenever I send an attachment I use K9 with my non-google pop account.
Another thing you may want to tweak is the sync days. In the gmail app go to settings > Labels. I only sync Inbox and Sent and only for 4 days. I keep this stuff to a minimum so that the droid isn't bogged down with a bunch of old mail. I think it leaves openings for errors and possibly eats up more battery when syncing. When I do need an older message I login to gmail.com using Dolphin HD with user agent set to Desktop.
