Gmail questions

I have the Motorola Droid, v 2.1. I am running 2 different gmail accounts. One for work and one for play. The work email is accessed by myself and a colleague. The colleague also uses a Motorola Droid. I would like to disable the syncing of read email for my work gmail. In other words, I would like to read the emails on my phone without affecting the emails on the web. I want to login to my work email at work and see the messages as unread. Is this possible? Does my question make sense?

good question, but i don't think it would be possible because the phone is directly synced with google. it may sound like a PITA, but you can always read them and then mark them as unread.
