from droid 2 to droid 3

hey im thinking about upgrading to the droid 3..and was wondering without root is there a safe way to back up my apps and restore them to my droid 3 that will keep the settings?

or should i just start from scratch and manually install everything and set it all up again

It's usually safest to reinstall from scratch. You never know what cruft you're dragging along trying to migrate things.
