Hi guys, I just tried to make my own custom theme mixing one with another to fix my preference by messing around with the frame-res.apk. I change to .zip and unzip it to modify files but my question is how to I compress it back to .apk file that it will run on the clockmod? I tried just renaming .apk but it doesn't work. Any help?

you have to use adb shell and re-push it to /system/framework/ sync and reboot

I don't believe so. I know you couldn't when root explorer came out, but that may have changed. ADB shell is the only way I have successfully used, and used it MANY times

Thanks brandon but would you mind explaining a little bit about adb shell? Is it the same as using Terminal because that's that only thing I know. Can you give me specific code how to push it? Thank you!

basically. There's a thread around here that tells you how to setup android sdk (which is what gives you adb shell). Once you get it set up, plug your phone into your pc, put the new framework-res.apk on your sdcard and boot into recovery, open command prompt on your pc and these are the command lines that always worked for me:

adb shell
su
mount -o rw,remount /dev/block/mtdblock4 /system
dd if=/sdcard/framework-res.apk of=/system/framework/framework-res.apk
reboot

Okay I'll give that a try. The only problem is that I can't put the frame-res folder that I modified to its original readible .apk :S

Just download 7zip. It opens .apks and when you edit and then exit it, it updates it. Then you don't have to resign it.

I always just re-saved it on my pc (make sure it shows extension in your settings) but tank's method also works and is a little easier

I've been able to push it using root explorer. What I did was push it, and change the permissions, then reboot without exiting root explorer. I've had that work more times than not, but it doesn't always work.
