I just bought a droid 2. How do I get the phone to alert me when emails come in?? The phone doesn't ring or anything when emails come

Did you check the email settings for notifications? Anyway, you might want to use K9 instead of the stock email app.

when in gmail, click the menu button, and than go to settings... and than down to notifications and you can select a tone there. if you want new tones just create folders in your sd card and make the folder name "notifications" and than drop the mp3 you want to use in there and it will be an option.

OK, but if the Droid 2 stock email app is anything like the Droid 1's then definitely consider an alternative.
