It would be easy to buy bricked or messed up phones from someone who doesn't know what they are doing then fix it and resale it. Easy money.

but then you run the risk of buying a truly bricked phone and being out the money.

I mean the phone could have been drowned then dried out and they can says it's bricked. I guess you would have to be there and inspect it in person. If i was trying to buy a phone in person from a guy who said its bricked and i could get into the bootloader, i would probably just do the 10minute flash and let him have his phone back.

probably not, but if you bought them off ebay and they were truly bricked you would have a nice paper weight sitting on your desk. I've truly bricked one droid x, and if you count drowning your phone and it becomes a brick then im sure there are a few more. Your probably more likely to see a bricked phone from drowning than from user screw ups. and im sure on ebay people will sell them just saying there bricked and say nothing about the drowning part.

I buy from people I know or local people that I can meet. If I get off Ebay I make sure that there is a return policy, because if it is water damaged or hardware issue it goes back.

If you plan on restoring people's phones or making a business out of it, I recommend making the Linux Live sbf CD. Its pretty sweet

Oh, i thought you were thinking about do this. as i can see you already do. glad it's working out for you.

I do this ALL the time. Not so much the phones with software issues, but the phones with physical damage. My favorite trick is to buy two of the same phones, one with a broken screen and one with water damage. Take the good screen off the water damaged phone and place it on the cracked screen phone and wala, one more franken phone on ebay. I'm always buying phones and have a drawer full of broken ones. I ALWAY disclose 100% on ebay though. I make some very detailed descriptions.

If you're simply fixing someones bricked phone locally and selling it for profit you're a dick though. I charge a flat 20 dollars for any sort of repair/modifications that someone wants to pay for. I do this as a hobby and enjoy it, not trying to make a living out of it. I probably make an extra 500-1000 dollars a month doing this though...

I have actually been doing this as well. Sort of anyway....like Stayin100 does I have adds running on sites offering repair for bricked or messed up Android phones as well as adds seeking bricked DX's.

Everytime I am contacted by a DX owner I ask if they have already replaced the device (meaning do they have a new phone already) and if they would prefer to just see if it can be fixed. 9 times out of 10 they are saying "I just got {insert name here} so I don't care" then I ask what they want for it. Most have sold me their "bricked" DX for $20 or less.

I NEVER push the sell or buy....I ALWAYS ask "what do YOU want for it" I never say something like "I will give you x". So far I have hooked up 7 friends and 3 family members with DX's to replace their previous dumb phones. All of them got their "upgrades" for $20 or less.

But I never thought about selling them. I actually feel a bit guilty about doing this already....but I guess I justify it (to myself at least) by ensuring that they have already moved on from the phone or do not want it fixed. Once I get it I run the ISO disk I have always used and SBF it. EVERY"ONE of these was fixed within 30 minutes....hey...some had to charge first ;)

I wish someone was close to fort Irwin ca I would pay someone to root my tbolt. I have no comp at the moment. :'(

If you can do without it for a day or 2 and are willing to pay shipping you can over night it to me....I will root it and do what you want....then over night it back.
