E-mail occassionally stops syncing

Hey all,
I have multiple IMAP email accounts set up on the native Droid 2 messenger app (one of them being gmail). They are all set to push email and check every 15 mins (for those that don't support push). Occasionally, it seems the messenger stops syncing all of the email accounts. When I open them up individually and touch the "refresh" icon, the icon starts spinning and tries to refresh, but never actually connects. At the same time I can go to a "ping" app and can easily ping a server, so I know I have good wifi or 3G connectivity. It seems to happen randomly (although I notice it more in the evening) -- and on both wifi or 3G. If a reboot the phone, they all sync fine and the email push works. Anyone else notice this problem? I've noticed this once or twice a day since I received the phone.

I don't have a droid 2. Is this a widget, the Email app, the Gmail app, or something else?

This is the native email app.

I've seen more than one bug report about this on the Android google code site. Here's one: Issue 5378 - android - Email synchronization halts after given period of inactivity - Project Hosting on Google Code

I experienced this problem too back in December so I decided to stop using the stock app. That's not even the worst bug:

There are plenty more. I tell everyone to not use the stock email app. Use anything else.

I've also noticed this problem from time to time also. My action was to simply lock the phone and put it back down. New emails would eventually sync on their own. I assumed that maybe there were no new emails and the refresh never stopped spinning. Next time ill send my account an email from another device and see if its actually hung up or not...
