DX Text Notification Sound Won't Work

So out of no where my sound for text notification is not working. I checked all my settings and everything is fine and turned up. My ringer works loud and clear, but now the phone just vibrates for text. Anyone else having this problem? or know how to fix it?

Try this - it reset all my notification alerts!
Set phone to silent mode, turn off phone, reboot, turn sound back on. Now all notification alerts ringtones play and will work.

This was driving me crazy and your suggestion worked! thanks. My old iphone had an option to replay the notification after a minute or two if I did not open the message. That was a nice feature and hope the 2.2 release has something like that.

This must be the second week I have gone without hearing ANY sound for text notifications. Also, I have not been able to get any vibrations for my text notifications. All of my ettings have been confirmed and still nothing is happening. I have installed several new apps, but went through and deleted them. What in the heck shall I do? Has anyone successfully found a cure for this insidious disease?

The only solution that I have found (and read in other posts) is a factory reset. The installation of mediocre apps typically create such weirdness and even after uninstalling the third-party apps your problem may persist. Usually because the uninstall process does not truly undo everything it changed on install.
