Dropping Pins on Google Maps

I'm pretty sure this is a repost, but the search for "pin" came up with nothing.
So there is no way to drop pins on locations. I know I can star places, but they are all addresses and corners. As a hiker and cyclist I'd like to just pin something and name it so I can find it again. I wanted to do it today while checking out parkour spots with a friend. He did it all quick (iPhone user) but I couldn't do anything. I found an app that let me place markers with letters, but it wasn't accurate at all and force closed (I don't remember the name to warn others of it).

Any ideas or apps to use for this? I also have aptoide if you can think of something not in market, but the My Maps everyone was talking about isn't on there.

Hey, I'm pretty sure that Pin Drop, http://pindropapp.com is what you're looking for. You can drop a pin anywhere on the map, add title, tags, description and media to it. You can also follow other users there and see what pins the have got. Of course you can keep all pins private though.
