DroidX bluetooth not seeing earpiece

New to droidx (2 days) forgive any mistakes.
I have a earpiece (plantronix) which works find with my TMobile Wing. But my droid X just doesn't see it.

Home/settings/wireless&networks/bluetooth (checkbox is green)

Go into settings and Scan for devices ... never sees my earpiece. I have tried turning the bluetooth on/off but same results.

Is there something i am missing or ???

Turns out to be user error. Somehow the verizon guys got it connected following the same procedure i was using.
