In less then 24 hours Droid X Owners will have a much awaited Android upgrade available thanks to the crew at MyDroidWorld.com. We can't wait to see the speed improvements Froyo brings to the X. We are also crossing our fingers that flash might be included as well. More information coming, so stay tuned!

Keep up the good work P3Droid!

I'll be waiting but I'm not holding my breath since the word isn't official. I'm fine with 2.1 anyway but improvements are always welcome. :)

2.2 has nothing I can't wait for

I have not real desire to put a bloated, memory hog, on my phone. Can you move that PIG to SD. But for those that can't wait for Flash. Have at it.

I do not use the default browser so I don't care there.

Faster would be nice but the X is pretty snappy already.

The only thing I am looking forward to is some of the camera and video improvements.

Well, the title of this article was DEFINITELY misleading. You made it seem like an official Verizon build would be pushed out soon.

I'm not sure how it's misleading?

1. The Froyo update is coming soon (Less then 24 hours according to p3)

2. I made sure to make a note at the bottom it wasn't the official release from Motorola / Verizon.

The title is most definitely mis-leading. People will see it and think "Ohh, great! My (non-rooted) Droid X will be getting 2.2 soon!" But no, you have to be rooted and be willing to do this potentially dangerous stuff to your phone.

I'm sorry, but on all of these forums, most people who are rooted think they're better than those who are not. And this is coming from a rooted Droid X user.

Actually from what I'm being told, the X will not have to be rooted in order to update. I agree though, anytime a phone is modded you take the risk of something going wrong.

I can't help it if people read the title and not the actual article that includes in bold print "it's not official".

X2 on this being misleading. If i were you I would change the name droid x CUSTOM 2.2 release or something along the lines of it being aftermarket

The problem here is that many of the users/members rush to judgement. As I said, its for everyone rooted/non rooted alik.

>_> why does it seem like people are getting their panties in a bunch. I also thought it was official but to see it was a custom wasn't like OMG YOU RUINED MY DAY.... it was just an "oh ok its custom...cool!" At least its something....

Thanks for the info anyway! I greatly appreciated it!

And although it is **potentially harmful** to your phone. Take it easy.... very rarely does any of the devs push out a program that will make your phone brick to no possible way of recovery. You brick your phone you look up a way to unbrick it... stop making it seem like its going to explode and the chips inside will melt away because you put froyo on it unofficially....
