Here is a video I just posted on youtube of my droid with 3G at 30,000 feet going from florida to colorado. The quality sucks but you can see the bars still! Hope you guys like it!

What is that compact search or task bar across the bottom of your screen. I have been looking for one with the standard features like phone and voice seach.
What communications? last pilot story I heard the 2 were involved on their laprops looking at company policys.....in other words taking in the porn, locked in a cabin with anoher man. hmmmmmmmm lol
Being a commercial airline pilot, yes, it can interfere with the electronics in the cockpit. Also, I have yet to see 3g while flying (yes, from time to time I forget to put the phone in airplane mode........notice at 37000 ft, and turn off).
Thats fuking amazing but it would have been nice if the camera zoomed and if you would have gone on internet. I think that your plane might have had aircell broadband wifi connection and not the 3g because I just looked up info on actullay being able to get a 3g connection and I really dont think its possible at 30,000 feet yet.

All that, PLUS it's against FCC regulations. The cell-phone spectrum is to be used by ground-based communication only -- once you leave the ground, you've violated FCC regs. (Entering a tall building is not "leaving the ground," BTW. You're still "connected" to the ground through the building.) But, really, are they going to spend the time to track you down? I very seriously doubt it.
Also, to those who're saying it's impossible -- 30,000 feet is about 5.7 miles. Not totally out of the question to hit a tower 5.7 miles away, especially since there's no obstructions between you and the tower (no trees or buildings in the way at 30K feet, obviously. LOL) If you're sitting close enough to the window, I'd bet the cell signal is exiting the aircraft just fine. That being said, 5.7 miles has got to be very close to the limit, even under the most perfect conditions... Any call you managed to place at that height wouldn't last long.
