Droid 1 cant start recovery mode

I am trying to start my first gen droid in recovery mode, but when I hold down X and power up my phone...it just loops on the motorola "M" and wont start in recovery mode.

Any help?

Rooted? Can you boot normally?

If you can are you using rom manager?

Did you perform an update recently?

Are you powering it up THEN holding X?

You're supposed to hold "x" and the power button at the same time.

@guidot - not rooted, and yes i can boot normally. everything is fine except i cant enter recovery mode.

excuse my ignorance, but i flashed a recovery file in RSD and it didnt work..is that the same as SM? could you show me the file you would suggest me flashing?

If your phone boots normally you should try rom manager first.

Cannot use rom manager unless rooted.

excuse my ignorance, but i flashed a recovery file in RSD and it didnt work..is that the same as SM? could you show me the file you would suggest me flashing?

Are you trying to root? Which recovery file in RSD did you use, and where and/or how exactly did it not work?

Oops. Didn't see the not rooted part. Could be that your x key isn't working.

Teddy - I used "MC1_A855_1282081087_Recovery-Only_SPRecovery_0.99.3b.sbf" (if there is a better one please let me know) and it didnt work as in, i still cant get into recovery mode. I am trying to root, but cant get the process started because i cannot enter recovery mode.

LL, when you say it didn't work, what kind of error message did you get?

no error messege or anything, i just still cant get into recovery mode
