The Nexus 6 already comes with AOSP Android so why would you need to run a rom? The reason you would run a rom on the Nexus 6 is because you can! This is one of the only devices around that is built to develop on and run roms! Of course some rom devs have ways to improve battery life and performance. They also like to add lots of customization options for us which is always nice.
Team Drama has just released their build of Android 5.1.1 for the Nexus 6 "Desolation Rom". This rom includes optimizations and "just the right amount of features". They are really looking to add to the already great experience of AOSP without bogging down your phone with an endless list of features. This rom includes features like Layers 2.1 support, custom battery styles and options, clock and date customizations, boot animation options, slims navigation customizations, hardware key support, slimpie, heads up notifications, network traffic options, power menu options, recent apps options, custom carrier label, dpi changer, expanded desktop, notification LED color changer, and more.
