Does the Droid "X" have turn by turn navigation?

I have a Blackberry and love my VZ Navigator but stats show it is not compatible with the X...
How do I get navigation on my phone then? Thanks!

:welcome: to the Droid Forums. Do you not have a navigation icon in your app tray? Try pressing that. You can also do it by pressing the search button, microphone, and say "Navigate to ….." and it will work that way for you as well.

You don't need VZ Navigator. Google navigation is pre-installed and actually works better than the verizon application. I also had a Blackberry Curve, and the Google Nav is SO much better.....

....and it is Voice turn by turn !!! dancedroid

Plus since it uses Google Maps you can add the traffic layer to check out traffic. Note that it won't automatically reroute you based on traffic.

I have run it side by side in my car with a Garmin GPS and the directions from the Google one are more precise and are announced soon enough that you can actually MAKE the turn.....sometimes the Garmin waits a bit too long before telling you the turn is coming up. I've been real happy with my limited exposure to the navigation on the X. If you have pandora (or other music) going, it will pause the music to announce your turns, too! Likewise with phone calls. No more missed calls or turns because your music was up too loud. VERY cool.

Cool - thanks Warner - I actually haven't used the nav on my new DX yet, and never ran anything else at the same time to see what would happen.

Thanks for the info! dancedroid

Yeah, it's really sweet. And to add further info, the driving direction take precedence over the phone call too....so you won't miss a turn while you are talking on the phone....believe it or not, I've had all 3 events happen at the same time, so I know for sure. :icon_eek:

I just took a trip totaling over 4000 miles. Used the navigation the whole time. It worked flawlessly. There were a couple of errors on street addresses and small highways (back roads). I notified google and they corrected the errors. By the way, you need an oem charger to keep it charged. I have an after market car charger and it can't keep up with multiple apps running.

Thanks for sharing this! I almost bought a Garmin GPS but bought an X instead, I have wondered how the X would work for navigating

Navigation is so awesome. Was walking out of the office Friday, held the Search button and said "Navigate to Las Vegas." Bingo. Within seconds I was off to Sin City :icon_twisted:
