Are there any docking stations that you don't need to remove your case to connect the phone to it?

No there are non the docs are designed to fix to the shape of the phones and cases are bulky and have different shapes.

They could make something simple and elegant though, and use a mini-dongle cable for the connection.

Why they only make proprietary crap is beyond me.
