Do I need to do a factory reset before ICS?

iI'm not sure if this is the right topic to ask, but what is Webtop? And a only ask about home screens cuz I love Go Launcher but i dont what to miss of on anything ICS has to offer.... (For example: You can use the fav contacts widget that comes with the phone on GO even though the Go Contact widget is just as fine, but i'm just saying off principal). Should I use the default home screen for the first time in years (Used Launcher pro and Go Launcher on my DX)?

Blur is the default moto launcher, which is not currently working with lapdock/webtop. Webtop is the suite that you use to use a hd monitor with BT keyboard mouse or with the moto lapdock series of monitor/kb/touchpad combos which dock to your phone and look like a small laptop/large netbook.

Now as far as the original poster concern over factory reset after installing and major upgrade, it's a matter of choice. I have worked on enough Android phones over memory full issues to know that the o/s does not release some memory space due to whatever reason, that can only get reset by performing the factory reset. So my thoughts on the subject is junk get left around, and I like to think I am cleaning it up. I always think of Windows Registry and all the crap left behind! And as far as redownloading all the Apps, when Playstore updates, select Menu, My Apps and you can slide between INSTALLED panel to the next panel that says ALL, which lists every app you have installed (it doesn't forget, unless you a different Gmail). Simply install from the list. Or go to market.Android.com and log on with your Gmail to view the same list (and it even has all your other devices listed too). Loving ICS on my Nexus.

I can tell you that there were numerous issues during soak testing if folks had ANY type of bootloader installed. If you have Safestrap or anything like it loaded you need to uninstall it.

The OTA can be rooted with Matt's 1.7 Utility

I settled on Apex. But I'd try them both to see what you like

Tapped from a Galaxy Nexus using Xparent ICS
+1 on Apex...it is the smoothest, fastest and most responsive of the two in my opinion. But, try them both and see which one works best for you.

Bootloaders replace the factory bootstrap. An OTA will probably fail if the boot loader is not stock.
On the other hand, I clear the cache in the stock recovery after an OTA. The reason is, the cache still has, well, cached data from apps, even factory ones. A good example is that face unlock didn't appear on my phone until I cleared the cache. The settings application was cached.....

Me too. Playstore wouldn't DL my apps until i cleared data/cache after the ics install, cached data told playstore the apps were still here i think
