Dissappearing apps

Anyone know why my apps dissappear from my phone on a update?

Which apps? What are you updating? An app? The OS? ROM? Details matter.

Well. Everytime i update or turn off my phone it seems to make the icons on my screen dissappear. You can still activate the program just the shortcuts loose there image if their app icon
