Absolutely! For stock HTC Sense just open the People app, chose the contact in question, and when the contact card info shows just scroll down to the bottom where the "Information" box is located and press the "Ringtone" box.

Also if you are choosing a specific song, find that song in the Music app, press Menu -> Set as ringtone -> Contact ringtone
