It will happend soon so get ready. Get ready if you have high broadband but no wifi router, get a router connect you're high speed modem to router and get use to watching video off you're phone connected to you're network. In that way you wont be wasting you're data plan to quickly. Then when you're either work or somewhere you can watch video and surf the Internet don't watch high quality lower the resolution on video the less mb you will be downloading. Track you're usage on text, data, and minutes over the internet under you're verizon account.

Once they change the plans then I wont really mind i'll just use my router to feed internet to my phone then when i need to i'll use my phone to surf the internet when i'm away from home. If I need to. Streaming video will take more memory to watch them. I recommend you what ever you will be watching to download it to you're phone from you're pc and watch from there instead of streaming of the internet.

i would not start shaking in your boots yet or down the road. what ever you phone/voice/data package is right now or before VZW rolls tiered rates is what you will have after the roll out. you WILL be grandfathered in with your current setup.

VZW has to allow grandfathering otherwise they would be in violation of there own TOS.

You will most likely have 3 options.
1] keep your current setup and keep unlimited data (grandfathered)
2] cancel contract w/o facing ETF (early termination fees)
3] upgrade to a newer device + tiered rates from a promotion deal only for current customers.

if you do get grandfathered in, any changes you make to any line regardless of the change could subject you to the new rates.

VZW is not stupid, yes they are in it for the money but they also want to attract new customers and keep their current ones happy. so expect to see some deals popping up the closer we get to this. though i am not happy about this i am anxious to see what they have up their sleeve.

is this in keeping with what AT&T did? when will this be happening? and lastly so is this to keep the 3g and not overloading verizons network as seen on other carriers?
this is an honest question no trolling intended or implied.

Honestly, Expect it to happen around the same time the iPad launches on Verizon.

If they do implement these changes and they "expect" you to use wifi when available...thennnnnnnnnn how about fixing the droid x so that you can actually use it on your home wifi without disconnecting every other minute?!?!?!?

The other issue is with grandfathering.....I am still using a family plan with data that they have not offered for 9 years. Every time I upgrade my phone they let me keep my plan, but I'm afraid that the next time I upgrade they won't let me keep my plan bc of the new data rates. This will increase my monthly rate substantially bc then my minute plan will also increase along with the data plan

STINKS!

same way we track it right now.
plans are to be announced.
yes quality of the video counts.
yes don't stream live video and you'll limit that.
verizon is trying to be more flexible with data plans.

relax or you'll pop a vein.

I believe we will get grandfathered into our unlimited plans. Heck I had a calling plan that Verizon got rid of for 3 years after they changed it. I'm not worried about tiered at all.

I wonder if the people who worry about that are the same people who complain about the battery in all of the Android phones?:icon_ devil:

^^ This...

Whatever your contracts stipulate is what will remain. They couldn’t change w/out your auth or Verizon would get sued.

What if you're coming off contract and don't renew but go month to month. I'd imagine V can start charging a tiered data rate.

If your contract ends I can see that being up to Verizon. Most likely as the user said above they would throw you an offer.

But as long as you're under contract they cannot change anything as this will breech your contract.. Hope this helps
