How do we plan to track that? I mean 1 gig , 2 gig what are the plans ? How does streaming videos in HD count ? Does the quality of the video count? IF WE STREAM live video is that some way to limit that? is verizon trying to control our chaos!
is this in keeping with what AT&T did? when will this be happening? and lastly so is this to keep the 3g and not overloading verizons network as seen on other carriers?
this is an honest question no trolling intended or implied.
If they do implement these changes and they "expect" you to use wifi when available...thennnnnnnnnn how about fixing the droid x so that you can actually use it on your home wifi without disconnecting every other minute?!?!?!?
The other issue is with grandfathering.....I am still using a family plan with data that they have not offered for 9 years. Every time I upgrade my phone they let me keep my plan, but I'm afraid that the next time I upgrade they won't let me keep my plan bc of the new data rates. This will increase my monthly rate substantially bc then my minute plan will also increase along with the data plan
STINKS!

same way we track it right now.How do we plan to track that? I mean 1 gig , 2 gig what are the plans ? How does streaming videos in HD count ? Does the quality of the video count? IF WE STREAM live video is that some way to limit that? is verizon trying to control our chaos!
i would not start shaking in your boots yet or down the road. what ever you phone/voice/data package is right now or before VZW rolls tiered rates is what you will have after the roll out. you WILL be grandfathered in with your current setup.
VZW has to allow grandfathering otherwise they would be in violation of there own TOS.
You will most likely have 3 options.
1] keep your current setup and keep unlimited data (grandfathered)
2] cancel contract w/o facing ETF (early termination fees)
3] upgrade to a newer device + tiered rates from a promotion deal only for current customers.
if you do get grandfathered in, any changes you make to any line regardless of the change could subject you to the new rates.
VZW is not stupid, yes they are in it for the money but they also want to attract new customers and keep their current ones happy. so expect to see some deals popping up the closer we get to this. though i am not happy about this i am anxious to see what they have up their sleeve.
What if you're coming off contract and don't renew but go month to month. I'd imagine V can start charging a tiered data rate.
