damaged sd card

I have this notification on my phone it says I can try to reformat but will lose anything on it. I'm not sure what to do. How can I tell if there is actually anything on my card?

Welcome to the forum

You would do well to get a USB card reader to see what's there using your PC but I fear it's toast. Try not to keep anything on the SD card that isn't a copy of something stored somewhere else.
