Custom Ringtones for Pantech Breakout

How can you use sound files that have been downloaded to the phone for ringtones? I have combed the user manual and also have done some searching online. However, I haven't seen any instructions on how to do this. With my old phone, any sound files that I stored on my phone were available when I went to choose a new ringtone. However, with the Breakout, the only ringtone choices that I see are the ones that came factory loaded, even though my sound files are there in my Music folder. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

i am having the same problem. i used to have an LG ally and i used the app "androzip" which allowed me to access my phones internal memory. i can access it on the breakout but when i try to move to ringtone to any folder it wont let me due to system restrictions. if i figure it out ill let you know and if u can figure anything out let me know

Okay man ive figured it out. Get the app. "ringdroid" just got that app to do it for me! Hope this helps

Make a folder on the SD card called media then inside media a folder called ringtone.

If you want custom notifications just make a folder with that name.

Thanks for the help guys. Now can you do specific themes? My old BlackBerry could do loud, soft, custom, etc and you could edit the settings and pretty much set it up however you want it.

You can download launchers like Go or ADW and get themes for it.

How I did it. -

First you need a free app. Click on the Market icon. It will want you to set up a gmail account if you do not have one already to access the app store.

When you are in the store, click Categories - Tools

Click "Top Free"

Number 85 is "Tone Picker"

Click the icon - download and install

Then connect the phone to the computer

The phone will ask to turn on usb storage - do so

Windows will come up with the SD card memory to browse

On the card, create a folder called media and under that create a folder called ringtone

This is where you will put MP3's you want to make as ringtones, could put them anywhere but keeps it organized IMO

(for those that are new to the phones that don't know) There is a website called Brinked.com that has pre-made ringtones from people, or you can create your own by uploading your mp3 and then it allows you to edit it down to 30 sec and save it to your computer


Once the ringtones you want are on the SD card, you can turn off usb storage on the phone, and launch tone picker under apps and select those mp3's as ringtones.
