Complete wipe

I've had my DROIDX for a little over a year now, since july 10, and its been really acting up lately. It gets very, very slow, and the biggest problem is the keypad. I will type one word, and it goes away, I type another word, it goes away, type two words, goes away, and so on. I've factory reset it 3 times now and stay away from the previous apparently, except the ones I've had since I got it. I've dropped it maybe 3 times and always take extreme care with it.. is there ANYTHING I can do or is it just time for a new phone?? PLEASE HELP ME!!!
