I personally thought the droid camera was good especially on outside pictures, but after comparing them side by side it just doesn't look good at all. The colors on the droid pics just look washed out/dull and the overall picture is just darker.

That said, it's a cell phone camera (duh) and it still does a decent job.

I'll do some more comparison shots later...I was kinda in a rush so didn't get the exact position for each pic from both cameras.

wow i like this thread. For a phone camera thats impressive. Im not one to criticize picture quality and im color blind so im perfectly content with the quality of the pics i take with my DROID.

I dont rly have comparison pix but ill add some i took in San Diego

I don't understand why but it seems like the Droid takes moerately good pictures when there is plenty of light, but the pic quality drops a lot as the light level diminishes.

I think it's because the lense is too small. Not enough light can pass through especially if there's dim light. If there is a lot of light it wouldn't be a huge problem.

Poor optics and a poor sensor contribute to the poor low light performance. You just have to keep that in mind when snapping shots in less than ideal lighting. On the positive side, hopefully your drunken bar photos won't end up incriminating you since no one will be able to make anything out.
