I have a pro rooted, running gingerbread, flashed cm7 902 build.

it works great, having nothing to compare it too as this is my first custom rom flash (long story if you would like to hear it to learn from my mistakes just ask), one minor issue i have seen is if you choose to let battery die till it suts down when you power back up you will not have data. Easy fix is just restoring to stock rooted and re flashing 902 and voila data is back, and oh yeah dont let battery die completely

thanks to dutchbastard, CrackMonkey91, jackpotclavin (for the build), and motorolaoneclick root method Pete Souza (spelling)

any question just ask i am an open book

Wow sounds like my advice got you in trouble eh?
Sorry man, its what they told me to do so I thought I was relaying the proper information.

I never let it die myself but that's only because my daily schedule won't allow it. Id be without a phone at the wrong time of day so the lowest I got was 30%.
I tried, but simply can't afford to wake up without battery.

ok update if you in fact let phone cut off with battery dying and lose data then dont do like me and freak out cuz you lost it and try powering down with charger plugged in, instead let it charge fully and then unplug power down NOT reboot and data will come back

You'll need to upgrade to gingerbread.
Either use the rooted version by tbh or use the one that's floating around and then one click root.
Followed by the link provided by jackpotclavin on page 59 of his thread.

I would provide you with links but I'm on my phone.
If by tomorrow you have not gotten an answer I will reply with more detail.

That's right...
1- get gingerbread
2- use 1 click root method (for droid 3 I believe)(checck these forums)
3-get rom manager and droid 2 bootstrap
4- get the 902.zip file from jackpotclavins thread (page 59 or 60)
5- enjoy cm7

Of course be sure to follow all instructions carefully.
And again I am on my phone so giving direct links is hard.
But I have a feeling clueless is not so clueless anymore and can provide links if asked nicely.
Else wait til tomorrow.

Ok so here are the links I promised
You have GB already so I'll proceed from there

Instructions: Cyanogenmod For Droid Pro

Downloads:
- 1 Click Root method : Pete's Motorola Root Tools (says droid 3 I know but it's the one I used myself)
- Droid 2 Recovery Bootstrap: Droid 2 Recovery Bootstrap v1.0.0.5.apk
- Rom Manager: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.koushikdutta.rommanager&feature=search_result
- CM7 v902 (courtesy of jackpotclavin): 902.zip
- After install you may not have google apps (ie; Market), so get it here goo-inside.me - gapps downloads

With gapps just skip the config thing because it wants you to slide open your keyboard, which we can't do.
Actually that happens more often, like with texting so you might want to look into handcent or goSMS.
Anyway, those should be all the links you need to get it going.

Hi DB, thanks for those links.

I bricked it again. What I did not understand is when I got to Gingerbread rooted and made a successful clockwork backup. Now how do I flash cm7 909.zip?. Should I use ROM Manager to flash this zip? or just flash the zip in CWM

I personally used rom manager to reboot to recovery and flashed it from there

Thanks Clueless. It worked like a charm. I did not use ROM manager coz felt a little confused. Just flashed with CWM and it works great.
Can you please let me know if Themes for CM7 is working well with your device?. It seems the default theme reverts back once we reboot!!!
