character counter in texting,

is there anyway to shutoff the counter when texting because sometimes you can't see the words underneath the counter??

No Fix for Character Counter which covers text message

I just got off the phone with Verizon support for the Eris and there's no known way to get rid of or move the character counter box in the typing area of text messaging field. It's pretty annoying. You'll never know if you typed that word correctly that's hidden under the character counter. Hopefully, there will be a fix soon. Call Verizon and let them know they need to address this one.
