Can't set up .edu account

I can't seem to figure out how to set up my college email account on my Incredible. It is a .edu account. I haven't had trouble with any of my other accounts. I called tech support at the college, and they gave me the correct server address. But it just keeps telling me Authentication failed. Please verify your username/password. I know they are correct, so what could be the problem!!!????

If your username is the same as the first part of your email, try using the whole email address as the username.

Try both ssl and no ssl.

Try both server authentication and no authentication.

Still no! When I change the ssl it says cannot connect to the mail server to verify your account information. Your server is not responding. On the other suggestions, still getting the same message about the username/password. Thanks tho!

email your IT department for the settings you need to use. worked for my .edu account

What I did was forward all email received from my .edu account to my preferred email.
