Cannot 'sign in' to Goole Talk

Hello - I have not been able to 'sign in' to Goole Talk for a couple days now .... any one else having this issue?

-I have not change gmail password
-Turned phone on/off several times
-Removed/replaced battery once

Motorola Droid - stock OS and programs etc.

Is this truly just a Goole Server issue maybe?
