Cannot pair my headset with my phone

This is the third headset i have baught for my phone. When o try to pair it with the phone it doesnt get discovered nor does it show up after scanning. Am i doing something wrong? Details
I have a first generation droid running the latest update
The headset is a celltronix 500
Please help i drive for a living and cant afford to be caught talking on the phone while driving.

They say that just turning the headset on puts it in dicovery mode or pairing mode not true. For this particular headset you have to hold the button on the headset tull you see it flaah red and blue when it does it will be in pairing mode.
