can you change the megapixels on the droid razr maxx hd camera

i hit the settings on the camera app. it only gives me a choice between 6 or 8mp to take pics.
can i change it to like 1 or 3mp like on all other phones?

It's a limitation of the included Android Camera app. Try another Camera app -- Camera Zoom FX, for example, has settings for 8, 5, 3.1, 1.9, 1.2, 0.8, 0.3, and 0.1 MP.

Thanks. I just don't know why a $300 phone can't do this by itself & i would have to buy a $2.99 app to do something that the phone should do on its own.
