Just got my droid two weeks ago and now my camera says that i have to insert a sd card and i have no idea why. Is this because i have used up to much memory? If i delete some apps will this message go away?

Where did you get the phone? Was it from Verizon store?

I would power the phone off, remove the battery cover and check to make sure there is an SD card. If not, I would go to the Verizon store. If there is power it back on see if rebooting fixed it, if not take it to Verizon.

The picture below, you see the metal piece, then there is a black piece with an upside down "Sa" and "16" that is the SD card you are looking for.

One more thing you could do is check your freespace on the SD card. I suppose that would be the quickest and not require you to power down your phone. To do this bring up the app list and click settings, click SD card & phone storage, you should see: Total space 14.xx GB, Available space xx.xx(important to have space here), Unmout SD card, Format SD card and Available space xxxMB

I had the same problem when my phone was about 3 weeks old. I was using the camera to take a couple short videos (nowhere near filling up the card), when all of the sudden the camera app said "insert SD card".

When I tried accessing the SD card using Astro file manager, it told me that the SD card needed to be formatted. I could no longer access the SD card from the phone or the computer.

I took the phone back to the Verizon store hoping to get a replacement SD card, but they did not have any 16Gb cards at the time. I talked to the store manager, and she suggested that I format the SD card in the phone and if I had any more problems, then she would replace the whole phone.

I have not had any problems with the SD card since formatting it that day, which was about 6 weeks ago. But I make sure I keep a backup of my SD card on my computer now. :)

So anyway, try formatting your SD card and see if that fixes your problem. Settings --> SD card & phone storage settings --> Format SD card

[edit] Note that you will lose everything on your SD card if you format it. Check to see if you can access your SD card from your computer to backup your data before you try formatting. I had no choice but to format mine because I could not access the data anyway.

You lost all of your photos doing this right? Put a warning so he doesn't lose them without knowing what will happen!

Yes, I lost everything on my SD card when I formatted. But I couldn't access the SD card anyway, so my data was gone either way.

I edited my post to include the warning, thanks.

This happened to me last week, all I had to do was reboot the phone. Don't format your card until you have tried everything else!
